From March 2023, the new musical The Bodyguard can be enjoyed at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht for five months only. This world-famous musical featuring Whitney Houston’s iconic hits returns to the stage and is more spectacular than ever before. With our technical automation, we at STS are doing everything we can to make this show an unforgettable experience for the audience. From impressive structures to technically advanced installations, we make sure that all the elements fit together perfectly for an immersive show.
The Bodyguard: The Musical
A production that uniquely combines musical with pop concert, love story and suspenseful thriller: The Bodyguard is all about tension and seduction. You will experience the story of the successful 1992 film, in which superstar Rachel Marron is threatened by a stalker and former CIA agent Frank Farmer must protect her as – you guessed it – bodyguard. Featuring numerous number one hits by Whitney Houston, including “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and “I Will Always Love You,” you’ll be swept up in an ultra-exciting and romantic production.
This world-renowned musical made its West End premiere in 2012 and was awarded several prizes, including four Laurence Olivier nominations. In the Netherlands, “The Bodyguard” first took the stage at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht in 2015. Since then, this riveting production has managed to conquer the entire world, with screenings in countries such as Spain, China, Australia, the United States and Japan .
In this new version of The Bodyguard, the lead roles are played by Nyassa Alberta (The Lion King, TINA) and Tarikh Janssen (Hamlet, Marvellous). Other roles include Nurlaila Karim (Sister Act, MAMMA MIA!) and Juneoer Mers (The Lion King, TINA). The musical runs approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.
The Bodyguard’s Theater Technology
The STS team is currently working hard on the technical automation of this major production in Utrecht. STS has all the necessary methods and knowledge to make the technique of this production a spectacle of the highest caliber. We therefore hope that, thanks in part to our technologically advanced moving installations and set constructions, The Bodyguard: The Musical may become a great success that every theater lover will enjoy.
