Project scope

Mary Poppins is known from the 1964 Hollywood musical film, based on the book by P.L. Travers and starring Julie Andrews. Disney’s West End production opened in December 2004 and received a Olivier Award for best actress in a musical and also an Olivier Theatre Award for best choreography. The musical, also based on the stories of P.L. Travers (1930) and the successful Disney film (1964), is a co-production in association with Disney Theatrical Productions and Cameron Mackintosh. The stories of Pamela Travers were inspired by, and written a few years after the great stock market crash of 1929. Now, 75 years later we actually find ourselves in the same situation as the story of the bank in big financial trouble featured in Mary Poppins!

The show opened in 2006 with a Broadway opening in 2008. The international tour was also produced by Cameron Mackintosh. STS automated 10 tracks, 2 lifts, 2 houses, 4 doors and the performer flying system.

In 2010 the Dutch production premiered. The deck comes with computerised tracks and a special 3-D performer flying system for Mary Poppins. There is a round steel beam in the room and this comes with a winch truck and a friction drive.
