Project scope

STS was asked to be responsible for the entire automation of a new Cameron Mackintosh production of this show. It is a touring version that will be shown in the UK, U.S. and Australia. That also means that the U.S. installation has to meet specific standards. The automation powered deck consists of seven tracks, four travellers, 4 panels and a rotating winch for performer flying.

In 2012 STS supplied the automation for the Korean production and in 2018 for Mexico

Les Miserables is based on the novel by Victor Hugo written in 1862. In 1982, Peter Ferago, a young musical director brought Les Miserables to the attention of producer Cameron Mackintosh, who saw a market for a new musical production. Herbert Kretzmer translated and edited the lyrics in English and added new material. Trevor Nunn and John Caird directed this adaptation. The musical began on October 8, 1985 and is still running today in London. In 2006 Les Miserables became the longest running musical ever.
