Project scope
The musical Elisabeth tells the story of Sissi, Empress of Austria. Apart from the musical itself, the stage automation was also praised by the press. With this large-scale production automation, STS has shown that the Autostage2000 concept is highly suitable for a combination of rigging automation and show control. Given the weight of some of the scenery pieces (300 to 1800 kg), both power-flying winches and hydraulic jiggers are used in the automatic fly gallery.
The winches used by STS are equipped with continuous weight measurement and double wind and slack rope protection. The STS-controlled electric slewing ring includes five hydraulic tiltable lift segments. The 10-metre-long bridge, which is supported on one side and comes down from the side stage, also needs to be hydraulically driven due to the large moment that occurs.
Operation is from an OptiMaster2000 central control desk, forerunner of the Composer with separate screens, and two portable control units that can be connected at different points. Instead of joysticks, encoder wheels are used, which guarantee jerk-free constant movement due to their high resolution and simple operation.
