Project scope

After Elisabeth and 42nd Street, STS automated Joop van den Ende’s musical, Titanic.   Microsoft used the AutoStage2000 system, an automation system for drawing walls and the show control.

It can be important for one company to automate, develop the winches, program and install the equipment given the complexity of this project.

Central to the ship, which is represented by two movable bridges – each weighing 5000 kg – is an aperture screen.  Each bridge is 15 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. There are 12 metres between two 2.5m x 2.5m high towers which move independently using four winches developed by STS.   The bridge is attached to the right tower by a hinge structure and to the left tower using a sliding construction.  This allows the bridge section to tilt.
