“The Little Mermaid” (Danish: Den lille havfrue, literally: the little seawoman) is a popular fairy tale by the Danish poet and authorHans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince.
Written originally as a ballet, the tale was first published in 1837 and has been adapted to various media including musical theatreand animated film.
The performer flying installation and automation is done by STS. Three large trusses with 4 travellers and 4 integrated hoists were used in 2012 for the Dutch production. In the same year the Russian production for Moscow & Japan was made.
