Project scope
AIDA, a musical by Walt Disney, like other musicals produced by Joop van den Ende in the Netherlands, requires a high level of automation. The Autostage2000 control computer is able to easily automate various scenic elements integrated with the automated flying system.
The OptiMaster2000 desk, the forerunner of ‘The Composer’ desk, is used with separate screens. In this production there are six rotating legs and seven floor tracks within the show deck. There are ‘roll-on roll-off’ winches used to drive these tracks.
Other elements included are: a stage deck, a moving table that is connected to the floor track and the closing of a tomb (the two protagonists are buried in the tomb at the end of the musical). Two automated canvases from the side, and a roller blind, create a desired aperture.
